Joseph Chu is a registered U.S. patent attorney specializing in protecting, developing and enforcing intellectual property assets domestically and internationally.
Joseph was selected to be part of the California Rising Stars in 2014, 2015 and 2017, a special distinction given to only 2.5% of attorneys 40 years of age and younger, based on high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
Joseph specializes in all aspects of patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution, intellectual property litigation, as well as acquisition and licensing transactions. Joseph actively represents clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings, as well as in patent and trademark litigation in the U.S. federal courts. Joseph is well-versed in highly complex third-party challenges and patent post-grant proceedings. He is also experienced in all areas of international IP prosecution, portfolio management and enforcement.
Joseph graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and earned his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in Denver, Colorado. Joseph was a chemical engineer before he became an attorney. His strong technical background and related work experience in biotechnology arena help him understand large and small clients alike in accomplishing their business objectives.
